We should like to remind you that the International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) Code, 2012 Edition (incorporating Amendment 36-12) 2 volumes will be on sale in late November 2012. The Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC) at its sixty-second session in July 2011 adopted the amendments to MARPOL Annex V by resolution MEPC.201(62), which will enter into force on 1 January 2013. The revised Annex V prohibits the discharge of all garbage into the sea, except as provided otherwise. A simplified overview of the revised MARPOL Annex V discharge provisions can be accessed here.
