IMO Secretary-General Sekimizu
today (25 November) received a courtesy call from his counterpart at the
International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Secretary-General Dr
Hamadoun Touré. ITU is the United Nations specialized agency for information
and communication technologies, committed to
connecting the world's population.
IMO’s Edmund Hughes is in Paris
for the OECD Council Working Party on Shipbuilding (25 November), to present an update
of IMO’s regulatory work on air pollution and energy efficiency following the
2014 meetings of the Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC 65 and MEPC
66), including NOx Tier III amendments, extension of the EEDI framework to
additional ship types and adoption of the 2014 Guidelines on survey and certification
of the EEDI.
Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Egypt to IMO, H.E. Mr Nasser Ahmed Kamel,
today (25 November) paid an inaugural visit to IMO HQ, presenting his
credentials to IMO Secretary-General Sekimizu. Egypt is one of the longest
serving Member States of IMO, having joined the Organization in 1958.
