The Asia-Pacific Heads of Maritime Safety Agencies (APHoMSA) Forum convened its 14th session in Cairns, Australia, from 1 to 4 July 2013. IMO was among four other organizations that participated in the Forum.
The Forum is important to the work of IMO because it helps in identifying regional priorities which are then fed into the IMO Integrated Technical Co-operation Programme (ITCP). This Forum also allows its members to present current and emerging issues which are influenced by the rapid growth of the maritime industry in the region. Technical co-operation delivered by IMO at the regional level is focused on the unique needs of the regions.
