ISPS Code Self Assessment Training Workshop - Lima, Peru, 17-20 September 2013

This workshop was conducted at the request of Peru and in collaboration with the Maritime Security Working Group of the Asia Pacific Economic Community (APEC) and the Organization of American States Inter-American Committee against Terrorism (OAS-CICTE). 
 
The 4-day programme was designed to strengthen the technical capability of port security officials and managers with respect to standardizing the process of self assessing port facility implementation of Port Facility Security Plans (PFSPs). The objective of the workshop therefore, was to achieve improved implementation of the provisions of SOLAS chapter XI-2 and the ISPS Code by means of familiarization of participants with respect to practical tools and processes for self assessing ISPS PFSPs, including using IMO MSC Circular 1192 on "Guidance on Voluntary Self-Assessment by SOLAS Contracting Governments and by Port Facilities".
 
 
 
The workshop was hosted by the National Port Authority of Peru with a total of 24 port facility security officers and managers from ports in Peru in attendance.
