National Maritime Security Workshop in Batumi, Georgia, 4 - 6 March 2014

The main objectives of this national workshop was to refresh shipping security professionals’ knowledge and improve their understanding on SOLAS chapter XI-2 and ISPS Code provisions, particularly in respect to planning and conducting port facility security assessments (PFSA) and preparing port facility security plans (PFSPS). A further objective was to identify any national gaps that obstruct to give full and complete effect to  the provisions of SOLAS chapter XI-2 and the ISPS Code as required by SOLAS article I(2). In order to assist Georgia in meeting these objectives two consultants were recruited to elaborate on the national implementation of the IMO security measures in ports of their respective countries (France and UK).
